Beautiful Bohol

Panglao Beach

I always tell my friends that Panglao Beach Bohol is the tame version of Boracay. If you yearn for sheer relaxation along the beach minus night life (and hot bar tenders- ha-ha), then Panglao is for you. Though the stretch of the beach may not be completely covered with solid fine white sand like Boracay (there are isolated stone/rock formations in some areas), Panglao Beach never ceases to flaunt its extraordinary splendor.

The last time I visited Bohol was in March 2010. And admittedly, we didn’t prepare any solid itinerary at that time. I came back after two years and it’s the same old Bohol I fell in love with – reserved, laid-back, undisturbed.

Day 1 - Tagbilaran City Tour

We reached Tagbilaran Airport via Cebu Pacific at around 10:00 AM. Our flight was awfully delayed . Kuya Jonald, our private van service provider, didn't waste time and immediately went on with Tagbilaran City tour.

Our first pit stop? Loboc River Cruise. Yes! I was starving to death!

Loboc River

Known as the floating restaurant, Loboc River Cruise is one of the main attractions in Bohol. We paid P350.00 at the entrance, and the receptionist provided us with a postcard donned with the famous Bohol tarsier. We were told to keep it since we will be needing it in our tarsier watching.  Anyway, we had Filipino lunch buffet while sailing on the the stretch of Loboc River also knows as Laoy River.

The "floating restaurant" took us in an isolated part of the river (I am guessing it's like the end of the river) and there we found another "floating pavilion" with bunch of kids serenading tourists.

Trying hard, Elbert? Ha-ha

Tagbilaran City Tour: Tarsier Conservation Area

Tarsiers look freaky but I am telling you they are oddly cute :D This nocturnal primate can only be found in Bohol, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. Look at those big wide eyes! Tourists are refrained from taking pictures with flash. Locals say tarsiers are suicidal when stress.

Tagbilaran City Tour: Carmen Chocolate Hills

The most famous tourist destination in Bohol. So why is it called Chocolate Hills? Blame it on Hershey's chocolate kisses :D

Chocolate Hills are actually grass covered limestone. It says that during dry season, the grass dries up and actually turns brown. The dried up brown hills look like bunch of chocolate kisses. Awesome!

Tagbilaran City Tour: Baclayon Church

One of the oldest churches in the Philippines and said to be the best preserved one. The first structure was build in 1595. It's original name was Bacayan, from the root word bacay meaning "detour" in reference to the fact that travelers used to make a detour there around a rocky cliff.

Day 2: Danao Adventure

Approximately 2 hour ride from our resort, Danao is another municipality in Tagbilaran City that gains approval from travelers that's worth going because of its adrenaline rush adventures.

Lily and Jay on to the Plunge

The Plunge is approximately 50-meter free fall from the top of the high cliff. Once you hit the end of the rope, it swings you for about 5 minutes over lush greens and hills. The 5 minutes cutthroat activity slashes P700 of your pocket.

So the major question is did i take The Plunge? No! Ha-Ha. I got seriously scared! Poor me.

Anyway, here's how The Plunge works. Gora, Lily!!! Cheerleader lang ako! :))

bombs awaaaaaaaaaaay!

We had sumptuous lunch still in Danao after the adventure. At 1:30 PM, we went back to our Dumaluan Resort (were we stayed) and took a little time wandering at the stretch of Panglao Beach :)
