Mama Chit's Coffee House

No doubt in my mind that Burgoo's burger compliments my taste buds. I've tried sumptuous sliders and burgers. But, Mama Chit's burgers...oh, boy....I wanna do a blind taste test. Ask me why? Muy delicioso!

The famous Mama Chit's of Marikina

Mama Chit's is located along the main road of San Roque, Marikina, just a few steps away from the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church, and the famous "putuhan" alley of Marikina. On a weekend, this coffee house is expected jam-packed. Thank goodness Elbert and I found a table after few minutes of waiting.

What I love about Mama Chit's (aside from the burgers, of couse ) is its interior donned with classic memorabilla - from Beatles 1970s album down to 19...(whatever)...flatiron. The owner must be a serious collector of all sorts of stuffs. Unbelievable! Their pipe in music for additional entertainment is a playlist of retro music. I seriously had fun listening to it :D

Gees! An old school analog telephone!
See that flatiron and thermos? These are older than me!
Hello, "banderitas"!
Vintage Coca Cola glasses.

Mama Chit's is not your typical fancy coffee house. It's non-aircon, and utensils are all disposables. The place can only accommodate roughly about 20 pax inside, but has extended space outside for more tables and chairs. The place is definitely clean.

More tables and chairs outside

Mama Chit's is well known for its Family Burger. It has five burger patties and roughly eight inches in height. Price is at Php600.00. We didn't order this one since obviously it's too much for two pax.

Price List

At the counter, Elbert ordered single cheeseburger, double patty burger, natchos and spaghetti. For our drinks, root beer.

Neatly wrapped Mama Chit's burgers.
Single Cheeseburger at Php100.00
Double Burger P200.00

The bread is love. I love...love...love the bread. Though I am not pretty sure if it's 100 percent wheat but there's something about the bun that's really yummy. The bread didn't sag even I ate really slow. On the other hand, the patty is very juicy and tasty. The flavor is not overpowering and its tenderness is just right. "Absolutely phenomenal" as Gordon Ramsay always says everytime he tastes wonderful food :D

By the way, condiments are also available to suite your satisfying burger urge. They have mustard, mayo, hot sauce and tomato ketchup (yes! tomato ketchup!).

Lezz do this!

The Nachos Salad is okay. It has vegetables, fruits and meat. The sauce or vinaigrette is quite sweet. Elbert says it tastes like "atsara". But, it's not bad. We finished the whole plate :)

Nachos Salad at Php170.00

The spaghetti is cooked in Filipino style meaning it's pretty sweet. Kids will like this one.

Spaghetti at Php130.00

I tried IBC root beer for a change. And yes I love it :D I wanted to order another bottle but it's quite expensive - Php80.00 per bottle.

A&W at Php50.00; IBC at Php80.00

How to get to there:

Commute

From Cubao, take an fx or jeep going to Calumpang. Tell the driver to drop you off to OLA (Our Lady of the Abandoned Church), San Roque. From OLA, Mama Chit is just a few steps away. You will actually see signage of Mama Chit from your left.

Private vehicle

From Cubao, take San Roque, Marikina route. Cross Marikina bridge then take a right turn. From your left, search for Mama Chit's. It wouldn't take 10 minutes to see Mama Chit's signage from the bridge. Parking however could be a challenge since it's along the road.
