Cebu City's Finest

I must admit, I only get to visit Cebu because of Bohol. We always take a quick stop to this beautiful city which is just 2-hour ferry ride to and from Tagbilaran City.
Known as the City of Smiles and the home of the world famous "Dancing Inmates" (Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center), Cebu is one most of the most sought after places in the Philippines because of its hospitable people, captivating places and lechoooon!!!! :D

Minor Basilica of the Holy Child is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in the entire Philippines. History says that the exact location of the church is where Miguel Lopez de Legaspi (a Spanish explorer) and troop found the statue of the Holy Child, miraculously safe in a wooden box, albeit fire that brought the place down.

Sto. Nino Basilica is located in the heart of downtown Cebu.

Magellan's Cross

The nearly 500 year old cross is a symbol of Christian faith during 15th century. Ferndinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer, planted the seed of Christianity in the island of Sugbu (now Cebu).

The original cross is kept in cased in a tindalo wood to protect from chipping as the people believe that it has miraculous power.

Magellan's cross is stationed in an isolated chapel near the old Cebu City Hall in downtown Cebu. It is also few steps away from Basilica Sto. Nino.

The Heritage of Cebu Monument

The monument is a depiction of significant structures in Cebu - Basilica del Santo NiƱo, the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, the Saint John the Baptist Church, the Magellan’s Cross, and a Spanish Galleon. Local artist Eduardo Castrillo built this awesome work of art.

The monument is located in Plaza Parain, Colon Street, Cebu City.

Crown Regency Hotel

Crown Regency Cebu provides guests with facilities for business and pleasure. It's where you can find the Sky Adventure which was featured in several times in travel shows.

Back in 2010, during my first trip in Cebu City, we we're able to find a good package inclusive of Edge Coaster, a buffet lunch in a Chinese restaurant, one hour massage and a free use of the the swimming pool, all for P750.00. Not bad.

Zubuchon

When I was a kid, I used to think that Lydia's Lechon is the only lechon provider in the whole country (ha-ha). I used to see their commercials in Eat Bulaga most of the time.

Cebu is famous for lechon. I have tried a few "brands" but I honestly think that Zubuchon is the best among all. Though I am not a big fan of pork meat, I enjoyed every bite of it :)

Dinuguan is also a best seller.

We did all these activities in half-day. We missed the Taoist Temple due to delayed in departure of our ferry boat from Tagbilaran. Rain then was pretty bad. Anyways, there is always next time :D
