Singapore: Train (MRT) Experience

I've been very vocal about how awful my sense of direction is. My memory is very poor when it comes to "how to get there". Good thing Elbert's memory is sharp. He's my human compass and I am glad he's always around to do the "mapping" ;p

Map of Singapore

Map is a traveler or a tourist's bible. It's important to study which way to go before the scheduled travel. In our trip to Singapore, Elbert printed out the map of train MRT so that we know exactly which platform to take.

Going around Singapore via train is fast, convenient and cheap. I understand from a Singaporean colleague that the government encourages their people to take the public transport instead of buying a car. And yes buying a car is EXPENSIVE! Double, triple the price of Philippine cost.

Parang MRT lang din ng Pinas :)

fall in line. bawal magkipaglumbahan dito. disciplina :)

It's very convenient to ride a train in SG

Before our trip to Singapore, we searched the internet on how to get to our destinations. We printed out train map since we do not have any plans to take a cab to save some money. And then at the airport, we secured free flyers which has Singapore map on it.

We bought SMRT card at the airport which costs SGD12.00 (SGD7.00 payment for the card itself card and SGD5.00 load). We realized however that it wasn't necessary for us to buy one since we will be staying only for 2 days. We could have just paid through the electronic ticketing machine which is located in every station.
E-Link card SGD12.00

If you want to know how much it would costs you from one terminal to another, check it out here. It's very helpful especially to those who will be traveling to Singapore for the first time http://www.smrt.com.sg/
