It was in the middle of May 2011 when we visited the historic Corregidor Island for a day tour. We were able to get discount vouchers in Sun Cruises at around Php1,000.00 through CashCash Pinoy. The day tour includes entrance fees, transportation and buffet lunch.

From CCP Bay Terminal, we were fetched by a coaster van to drop us off to Sun Cruises ferry station. At 11:00 AM queue for the ferry ride started.
The Sun Cruises reception desk got hold of our boarding passes and inspected our bags. When cleared, we were directed to the ferry entrace and greeted by the staff (oh, diba?). They also gave us a bottle of water and packed biscuits. (While walking through, I was disappointed to see smelly garbage scattered on the banks of Manila Bay. Nakakainis!).
We left the port at nearly 12:00 NN (which was poorly late). When all the tourists were settled, Sun Cruises held a general orientation while on board. The 45 minute ferry ride offered us time to explore the ferry.
tour orientation and safe precaution |
We reached Corregidor Island at nearly 1:00 PM. We headed straight to the buffet table and took our lunch-under-the-tree. After some time, we were advised to ride the tramvias which served as our transportation going around the Island. From there, our journey in the Island begun.

We didn't have much time to take pictures due to imposition of time limit per spot or landmark which I think was the downside of the tour. I remember our tourist guide informed us to spend 5 minutes to explore the hospital ruins and barracks. For photography junkies, creative shots (e.g. infrared using filters) are not doable due to, as I’ve mentioned, time constraints. Bringing a tripod is a disadvantage.
Nevertheless, Corregidor Island is still worth going. Sun Cruises also arranges overnight stay should you wish to experience spooky adventures like ghost hunting (which I will never do…ever! Ha-ha).
